About Me

I am based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.

Before training to be a counsellor, I mainly worked in offices but I had always wanted to be in a role where I was helping and supporting people struggling with their mental health.  I had previously had counselling myself and I knew how beneficial and life-changing it can be. I wanted to be able to help and support people in a professional capacity, so I decided to take the steps to becoming a qualified counsellor.

I am very passionate about being a counsellor and supporting people, who have previously felt in a dark place or stuck in their lives, feeling more empowered and positive about themselves and the future.I am a person-centred counsellor and this approach is at the core of my work with clients. The person-centred approach was developed by Carl Rogers, an American Psychologist.

Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

I am fully insured and DBS checked.

As a Registered Member of the BACP I abide by their Ethical Framework.  The ethical framework is a guide for counsellors setting out certain values, ethical principles and personal moral qualities that counsellors should aspire to in order to practice ethically and safely.  Part of the BACP Ethical Framework sets out that I attend regular supervision sessions and that I keep my skills and knowledge up to date by undertaking regular continuing professional development.
